FIVE TROMBONES illustrates the impeccable affinity between the Four Freshmen and the trombones, as both "sections" effectively slide and glissando profoundly through such classics as "Angel Eyes" and "Mam'selle." Uptempo numbers, such as "LoveIs Just Around The Corner" & "Speak Low," employ the silky grace of the Freshmen's chords in a sweeping swing.

FIVE TRUMPETS, finds the Four Freshmen in equally compatible company, as the horns provide a playful counterpoint to the singers harmonies. "Easy Street" find the Freshmen moving rhythmically through with decidedly "cool" fullness and dynamics. It is this coolness of the Four's style that makes them both perfect example of musical trends of the 1950's, but reveals their sound to be so unique as there is just nothing else quite like it these days.
