Description

Escorts By Ian on CD

8-Foot Tender is very interesting in their delivery and sound. They seem to drift in between rock, garage and punk, although seemlessly so, it does occasionally get all mixed up, and turn into a completely old school sound. 8-Foot Tender actually pull it off very well too, the old school sound that is, it's not as though it would be difficult for them, they're all from some relatively well-known older outfits. 'Escorts By Ian' is pretty funny too. Supposedly, the album is a spoof on the drummer's half-baked idea to start a gigolo/escort service in the Portland, Oregon area. I'm not sure just how true that might be, but it does make for a steady theme throughout the album. Tracks like the title 'Escorts By Ian', 'Diq Banger' and 'Stoke Chick' easily keep the theme going and make the album fun to listen to at every turn. While the album isn't a crashing mess of fun and excitement like today's punk acts, there is a mellow groove that moves you, catchy lyrics that entice you to sing along, and an old school feel that brings to mind great rock n roll. 8-Foot Tender have put together something that while slower than your average punk music today, is still entertaining to the point that you cannot stop listening, even for a second. The lyrics alone will keep you enthralled and interested enough to find out just how well 'Escorts By Ian' could be if it existed at all in the first place. 'Escorts By Ian' is a fun listen and a great rock album, that fans of late 70s rock punk will certainly enjoy. And fans of say, the Vandals or Guttermouth, will enjoy the lyrical content, as it fits in well with those comedians of the underground. -MG, Hussie Skunk Magazine.
