Two years after the sitcom was initially canceled, CHARLES IN CHARGE was resurrected in this unprecedented second season. Starring teen heartthrob Scott Baio (HAPPY DAYS) as the title's college student and live-in nanny, this revival presented a host of changes for its hapless caretaker. When the Pembrokes of season one move away, Charles has to maintain order among a new batch of precocious kids: boy-crazy Jamie (Nicole Eggert, who later went on to star in BAYWATCH), timid Sarah, and mischievous Adam. While their father is away on military duty, their crotchety old grandfather Walter heads the family, allowing for plenty of comic situations. As if the challenges of balancing his life as a babysitter with his studies weren't enough, things get more complex for Charles when a brief visit by his mother (Ellen Travolta, sister of John) turns into a long-term stay. Luckily, Charles still has his best friend, Buddy (Willie Aames), to rely on and a dreamy girl, Gwendolyn, to pine for. It all makes for a distinctively 1980s foray into the world of teenagers and family life.
