Ex-Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein fronts Gorgeous Frankenstein, a project that recalls the gothic metal of Doyle's former band and the music of fellow Misfit alum Danzig. Like Danzig, Gorgeous Frankenstein steers clear of the pop-punk anthemic elements of the Misfits, focusing instead on churning metal riffs, thunderous grooves, and ominously gruff vocals. GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN does stick to familiar B-movie horror themes, as the titles "Devil Girl," "Hell Angel," and "Speed Witch" show. Those who favor black leather and eyeliner are in for some good, clean headbanging fun.
