Seven American college students are captured and held for ransom by a Central American government. When the United States refuses to pay their ransom, a seasoned soldier of fortune puts together a rag-tag rescue force comprised of a group of daring students. They are the "Toy Soldiers."

While on a cruise along the shores of Central America, Amy and her wealthy friends disobey their captain's stern warnings and wander off into the wilderness. Unfortunately, Captain Sarge's fears prove all too valid, as guerrillas snatch the girls and sentence them to death.
Sarge executes a daring raid, but manages to save only Amy -- leaving her friends at the rebels' mercy. Upon returning to Beverly Hills, Amy tries, without success, to get her rich father to fund a rescue mission. So she begs Sarge and some neighborhood kids for help.
Now this ragtag army, lead by the fearless captain, has to descend into the jungles of Latin America to bring Amy's friends home... before it's too late.
