This three disc, 50-track anthology charts the career of Australian pop heartthrob Rick Springfield, including all of his hits.

Although he tends to be overlooked, there was a period of time in the early to mid-'80s when it appeared as though Rick Springfield owned the charts. Few pop acts of the era managed to fire off such an impressive string of hits as Dr. Noah Drake did, and all of his hits are included on the 2003 set Legendary. And a whole lot more too, as this import collection includes three discs -- focusing on 1981 through 1988. In fact, most of Springfield's songs from this era are included, including two complete albums (1981's Working Class Dog and 1984's Living in Oz), two albums missing just one song each (1982's Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet and 1988's Rock of Life), and a few selections from 1985's Hard to Hold and 1986's Tao. As a result, all of Springfield's Top Ten hits are included -- the chart-topping "Jessie's Girl," the Sammy Hagar-penned "I've Done Everything for You," "Don't Talk to Strangers," "Affair of the Heart," and "Love Somebody." If you're looking to pick up most of Springfield's albums in one shot, Legendary is recommended -- and at a very affordable price (despite it being an import), it should also appeal to the casual fan. Titling a Rick Springfield collection Legendary is definitely a bit too much, but if you were a regular buyer of 16 magazine back in the early '80s, Legendary will certainly bring back some golden memories from your teen (preteen?) years. ~ Greg Prato
