While most people are only familiar with Leonardo Da Vinci's aesthetic creations, the Italian Renaissance artist was also a prolific engineer whose scientific observations presaged inventions that would not be fully realized until the 20th century. Using only Renaissance-era technology, this two-part PBS documentary attempts to re-create two of Leonardo's most forward-thinking ideas--a giant crossbow that functioned as an early machine gun and a hang glider that served as a prototype for the airplane--to illustrate the almost clairvoyant nature of the master's visionary genius.
