Help Is on Its Way
Through the early '80s, the Flying Burrito Brothers were a mainstream country act headed by Nashville singer-songwriters John Beland and Gib Guilbeau, who had previously played together in a semi-legendary late '60s country-rock band called Swampwater but who had no ties to the original lineup of the Burritos. The two retired the name around 1984 after a string of medium-sized hits for Curb Records and original Burritos pedal steel player Sneaky Pete Kleinow regained use of the name. Partnered with ex-New Riders of the Purple Sage singer Skip Battin and guitarist Joel Scott Harris, Kleinow toured Europe incessantly, playing old Burritos tunes and other favorites. 1986's LIVE FROM EUROPE captures a fairly standard set from this era, with some overlap (different versions, same songs) with the other Relix live set by this lineup, CABIN FEVER. The opening "Streets of Baltimore" is a particular highlight.
