While convalescing at a health retreat, a sensitive and sexually curious teenage boy explores his identity, with a little help from his doting mother. The tender direction belies the film's provocative sexual themes, which caused it to be almost banned in France upon its release.
14-year-old Laurent, like most boys his age, has an avid interest in sex -- but he has never had the chance to experience the real thing. Instead, he remains wrapped up in family problems, including his mother's unhappiness with her marriage. Then a serious illness sends him to a spa for a period of recovery, and he finally receives a tender and loving sexual initiation... with a most unexpected partner.
