This 3-CD set highlights both Bob Dylan's retreat from the cauldron of 1960s social unrest and his increasing involvement with country music. 1966's JOHN WESLEY HARDING, his first release after his debilitating motorcycle accident, found the singer's preoccupations more opaque than ever, its unadorned arrangements paving the way for the more obvious country stylings of 1969's NASHVILLE SKYLINE, while 1970's NEW MORNING confirmed the artist's lyrical and musical drift toward gentle domesticity.
