A successful drama critic moves his family to the country in this film which inspired the later television series. Doris Day and David Niven star in this family comedy that also features a cast of amusing and mischievous children.
In this delightful comedy, New York theater critic Lawrence Mackay has his hands full when he puts the bright lights of Broadway behind him and moves to a country house. But trying to work at home in the midst of the Mackay family proves nearly impossible: his beautiful wife, three boisterous young boys, one infant, and one lovable English sheepdog provide endless distractions and constant chaos.
Worst of all, when Mackay finally does become successful, it goes right to his head -- and suddenly he ends up caring more about his own popularity than anything, or anyone, else.
