A sort of greatest-hits album from a parallel dimension, SEEK AND YOU SHALL FIND collects obscure album cuts, b-sides, and songs that simply didn't make the pop (as opposed to R&B) charts. In other words, unless you're a hard-core Marvin Gaye aficionado, this is terra incognito. Of course, given Gaye's massive talents as a singer/songwriter/producer, and given the uniformly high quality of work produced on the Motown assembly line, it's no surprise that, unfamiliar as this stuff is, it's nearly as good as the better-known hits. Highpoint: the Temptations' gorgeous "I Wish It Would Rain" reworked in the sensual mold of Gaye's masterpiece "I Heard It Through the Grapevine."
