In this adventure-driven drama set in the 11th century, two Vikings are left behind in what will be called North America. Though survival is their main objective, different elements call to them and cause them to separate: one goes in search of spiritual enlightenment, while his comrade relies on his primitive nature. This low-budget, high-action film diverges from the typical Viking film in a notable manner: SEVERED WAYS doesn’t opt for a period or classical soundtrack. Instead, the Vikings' exploits are set to the hard-rocking music of Morbid Angel, Judas Priest, Dimmu Borgir, and Queens of the Stone Age.

Distributor Notes: In the 11th century, Vikings, Indians, and Irish monks collide on the shores of North America in a historical epic adventure of exploration, personal glory, and religious dominance. Abandoned by a Western exploration party and stranded in the New World, two lone Vikings wade through a grand primeval landscape, struggling for survival while still in the grip of their Norse ways. An impressive DIY epic, SEVERED WAYS features a frosty black metal soundtrack, including Burzum, Morbid Angel, Judas Priest and Dimmu Borgir.

Review 1:
The real inspiration for this D.I.Y. epic -- part art-cinema oddity, part home-movie extravaganza -- is the real expedition by Thorfinn Karlsefni, an Icelander who planned to settle in the New World."
