Produced by the team behind HE-MAN, SHE-RA, and BLACKSTAR, the 1970s cartoon series SPACE SENTINELS and FREEDOM FORCE displayed the same adroit blend of action and sci-fi/fantasy that would make Filmation's later shows so beloved. Though both series center around magically powered superheroes, SPACE SENTINELS' trio of strongman Hercules, shapeshifter Astrea, and speedmeister Mercury usually battle science-fiction foes like aliens and time-travellers, while FREEDOM FORCE's quintet--Hercules, Merlin, Sinbad, Super Samurai, and Isis--tend to face off against fantasy-driven mythological beasts. This collection presents all 13 episodes of SPACE SENTINELS' one-year run as well as all five episodes of FREEDOM FORCE.
