When her son Kelvin is murdered in the parking lot of a gay bar, Emma Ayers calls New York attorney William Boyals (Kent Faulcon) for help. As he returns to his provincial Louisiana hometown, Boyals must fight the racism of the local police force and endure his own mother's homophobia.
