THE JEFFERSONS was a popular and groundbreaking sitcom from the mid-1970s, which broke with social convention and racial stereotypes while delivering a high standard of entertainment. Based around George Jefferson (Sherman Helmsley), an ill-tempered dry-cleaning mogul, and his family, the show followed the Jeffersons' move from the ghetto to a highrise, and the subsequent adjustments that must be made. In the fifth season, matriarch Louise (Isabel Sanford) takes an art class and begins sketching nude models, much to George's dismay. George cons Billy Dee Williams into speaking at a benefit he's hosting, and the Jeffersons deal with the threat of a company buyout, a visit from Louise's sister, and George's disco fever.
