A young black cadet attending the Carolina Military Institute during the early 1960's is the object of violent racism. With the help of a courageous friend, the embattled black man strives to attain his educational goal.
Will is a senior at the Carolina Military Institute (circa 1964), in which a secret society called "The Ten" conduct tortuous hazing practices on new recruits. He is assigned to protect Pearce, the first black entrant into the racially-biased student body. After narrowly rescuing Pearce from castration by "The Ten", Will is determined to reveal the group members' identities. His actions lead him to a cover-up at the highest levels of the academy.
