A visually stunning and elaborate Yakuza (gangster) film set in the late 1920's. While the Yakuza of the 20's still dressed in robes and carried swords, and the film is reminiscent of the world of the samurai, there is an occasional bowler hat or bit of newsreel film to remind the viewer that we are in the changing world of 20th century Japan.

"...A most peculiar mixture of stylized prettiness and blood and gore....I doubt that you'll be bored..."
