Nothing is more exciting than a wedding in Donna (Annabella Sciorra) and Michael's (Ron Eldard) Bronx neighborhood. So why is the happy couple wondering if this marriage is going to be the end of a beautiful relationship? While Michael tries to figure out why Donna wants sky blue mashed potatoes at the wedding reception, Donna wonders if Michael will ever outgrow hanging out with his friends at the local bar. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, TRUE LOVE marks Nancy Savoca's directorial debut and Annabella Sciorra's film debut.

Nancy Savoca's (DOGFIGHT, HOUSEHOLD SAINTS) low-budget directorial debut confronts both the joy and fear that a young bride and groom face as their wedding draws near. Everyone in Donna (Annabella Sciorra) and Michael's (Ron Eldard) Italian neighborhood in the Bronx is thrilled that they're planning to wed. But the bride and groom have their own issues. Michael wonders when Donna became so demanding and difficult, while Donna ponders when Michael will grow up. He can't understand the significance of a rainbow bridal party or sky blue colored mashed potatoes at the reception. She is dumbfounded by his need to be with his friends at the local bar in time for THE HONEYMOONERS every night. The question is, Are they marrying because they want to, or because they are expected to? Tensions rise as the big day draws closer and erupt at the worst possible time: the reception. Annabella Sciorra's film debut, TRUE LOVE was honored with the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1989. Savoca and her husband, Richard Guay, wrote the script.

TRUE LOVE was director Nacny Savoca's first feature film.

TRUE LOVE marked the film debut of actress Annabella Sciorra.
