Acrobat on CD

Corinne Marcus's singing recalls a blend of Paula Cole, Natalie Merchant & Suzanne Vega. Her songs are catchy and intriguing with hints of Lilith, pop, rock and lounge. In the late 90's Marcus recorded Dark Eyes with her first band "Cozy". She also played percussion and sang vocals on three CDs released by "The Flying Other Brothers" and performed at festivals or venues including High Sierra Music Festival, Marin Music Festival, Islands Folk Festival in Vancouver, Great American Music Hall, Slims, The Fillmore, Sweetwater, and several Democratic fundraisers including for Al Gore. After releasing her first solo album Acrobat in 2008, Marcus formed Corinne Marcus & the Kindred Spirits with Mark Jeffery on guitar (Mojophonic, Mobile Home Boys, Three Mile Grade), Dennis Harper on bass (Expresso, the Bundy Browne Band) and Larry Marcus on drums (The Flying Other Brothers, Key Lime Pie, Wayward Monks). Corinne Marcus & the Kindred Spirits are based and perform in the San Francisco Bay Area. Acrobat, Marcus's first solo album, released in 2008, features her moody, atmospheric vocals. In these ten songs, she juggles social commentary and political critique, glides on the trapeze of love and balances on the tightrope between nostalgia and self-discovery. She is supported by a cadre of stellar musicians, including her husband and Co-Producer, Larry Marcus on drums. Co-conspirators on this recording include: Robert Berry, formerly with Ambrosia and ELP, Cole Tate of the Cole Tate Band, and Winter Sichelschmidt of Pandemonaeon. Contributing artists include: pianist Pete Sears from Hot Tuna and Jefferson Starship, bassist Bill Bennett from The Flying Other Brothers, Tina Blaine of 90s femme tech rock band, D'Cuckoo, guitarist Nick Peters of Seconds on End, and bassist, Scott Derringer of Soul Patch.
