Willie Nelson is a true icon of Country music and his name is inextricably linked with the evolution of the genre. A musician since childhood, he began seeing songwriting success in the Sixties, when he penned hit singles for artists of the calibre of Ray Price ('Night Life') and Patsy Cline ('Crazy'). These are vintage Nelson demos recorded in 1961, just before he signed with Liberty. There is a warm, sparse feel to most of these performances, which sometimes feature nothing more than his voice and guitar. Fans of Nelson and country without the syrup should find a lot to like here. Digipak. Fruit Tree. 2004.
