Description

Blues at the Border on CD

Blues at the Border is James Armstrong's first release in 4 years. His mother was a blues singer and his father a jazz guitarist. He was playing professionally by age 8 and touring across the country when he was 17. He still maintains an active tour schedule in the U.S. and internationally and has earned the title Ambassador of the Blues. Recorded in New York and Texas, this is a collection of well-written songs performed by top musicians featuring James' excellent guitar work and smooth vocals. CBC radio described his music as "full of haunting and subtle nuances that point to a life rich with experience. He was worked with Albert Collins, Keb Mo', Chaka Kahn, Ricky Lee Jones, Jan and Dean, Mitch Mitchell, Tommy Castro and a host of others. His songs have been used in movie soundtracks for Hear No Evil, the Florentine and Speechless. This album honors traditional blues while giving it contemporary grit and electricity.
