Clean-Head on CD

Hard, fast punk rock with lots of guitars and vocal hooks. Influenced by everything from the angst of everyday life to the 'Little Rascals'! Think Husker du or The Damned at their poppy best. 'Musically, these guys show up their peers with balls the size of cantaloupes' - Grid magazine. Old school meets new school on this all new 21 track CD filled with swirling punk rock. Short, fast and to the point, Million Six packs this disc with stuttering guitars and sing along melodies that will leave you begging for more. If you are faint of heart or suffering from high blood pressure - Stay Away! Picking up where they left off on their 'Free Sticker Inside' ep, Million Six chip away at the old guard and add new life to a sometimes stagnant genre. Punks not dead yet! Nice spontaneous hard pop. This trio plays fast and hard, while keeping their strong melodies and simple arrangements in the forefront. There's a lot to digest here. The band tosses off 21 short tunes, and there's really not a bad one in the bunch. The raspy vocals are a good fit for the basic buzzsaw sound, owing a bit to punk bands of the seventies while retaining the intensity of nineties rock. Our favorites are 'Skinflakes,' 'Don't Start,' 'Bleeding the Ego,' and 'Wouldn't You Say?' Smart and direct, Million Six are playing a style of music made popular by bands like Dusker Hu a few years back. This stuff ROCKS in a rather nifty kinda way... (Rating: 4 out of 5) - Babysue May 1998 Excellent punk! They play it fast, they throw in some grooves, they got it all. Plus, 21 songs make it hard to pass up. - Impact Press Aug/Sept 1998 It's a fair bet that most punk rock bands that try putting 21 songs on a single CD will run out of ideas about half way through, but Million Six actually do a decent job of mixing things up and keeping it interesting. Part of the trick is lots of sub-two minute tracks, and part of it is good hooks and an ability to augment 3 chord rhythm guitar with some interesting leads and complementary vocals. Tracks like "Strike" and "Co-dependents" stick quite nicely to the ribs. The band seems a little short on ideas for words, but the wise move of omitting a lyric sheet helps this out...the singing sounds plenty good and rough without 'em. - Big Takeover #44.
