Mind Capsule on CD

Fusing intermittent darkish melancholic guitar-dominated rock themes with some of the most intriguing and vibrant melodic meanderings, these guys have managed to come up with something very, very special indeed! --Colin Lynch/R Cat Communications Imagine Stanley Kubrick equipped with massive musical chops. The tone is dark, the music exploratory, providing a soundscape constantly shifting in tone, very chilly. --Kevan Breitinger/Indie-Music.com 'excellent musicianship.....you guys got a first rate project!' --Artist First Network A formidable live presence as well as an accomplished studio project, NYC instrumental rock outfit Mind Capsule specialize in a heady amalgam of melodic rock, abstract groove and reckless improvisational sorcery. Drawing on a diverse (and often divergent) array of influences, guitarist Robert Sadowski, bassist Bob Mikkelson and drummer Ian Cook have created an instrumental project whose sound locates itself somewhere between an amped-up Medeski, Martin and Wood and a slightly throttled-down Mahavishnu. The music is dark, meditative and exploratory, with a very strong visual/thematic component and an emphasis on mood and emotional intensity over technical stunt-pilotry. And while these are serious players who prove themselves capable of navigating complex time signatures and extended improvisations with the best of 'em, the music is always firmly grounded in the service of the song; when they do venture off into an extended 9/8 passage or stop/start groove, they do so without leaving their audience behind.
