Just a Taste on CD

Myrna Sanders a/k/a, 'Burnin' Myrna', singer, songwriter, bassist and guitarist, is a Native Houstonian, and has been involved in the music scene since the age of 9. She has played everything from folk and country to rhythm & blues, and from rock and roll to heavy metal in various bands in and around Southeastern Texas. It's quite evident that Myrna's vocals have been influenced by such vocalists as Linda Ronstadt, Janis Joplin, and Robert Plant which attributes to her ability to belt out a ballsy rock tune and then serenade you with a tender love ballad. Her bass playing was heavily influenced by John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney and Geddy Lee. In 1986, Gene Bartholomew, columnist for the Houston Public News once called her one of Houston's best bassists. Some of Myrna's earlier bands including, BAD HEAVEN, BILL AND THE AMENDMENTS and RARE SEED, opened for such international acts as Megadeth, Metal Church, Shake Russell, Head East and Badfinger. Her song 'Ain't Comin Back' performed with RARE SEED, won a spot on the 1996 Houston Music Council Compilation CD, Volume IV in 1997 as Houston's best rock band. Myrna sang lead and backing vocals, and played bass on the only RARE SEED album release, 'Into the Light' in 1996. Some of her most recent accomplishments have been the release of her song 'Nice Girl' on Houston's SRO compilation CD, #3 in 2000, numerous live performances on Pat & Rosie's Night Sounds Show featured on Houston's Pacifica radio station, KPFT, and most recently, a live telecast on the Earthwire.net internet radio station with the Texas Kingfish, Keith Collins. Her songs and songwriting style has been compared to Sheryl Crow by some, yet others compare her music to early Melissa Etheridge with Zeppelin undertones.
