Description

Glory Avenue on CD

'Lauded by his cat and humbled by medical school, this young lad seeks to stir the furthest reaches of your soul with his unique brand of tunesmanship. Piano-based melodies strung with warm guitar and heartbreaking strings form a canvas on which his plaintive voice carries songs about infatuation, admiration, and aspiration. Think Nick Drake meets Jeff Buckley with an occasional flare of an incensed Beethoven.'--by Patrick Herek. Yes! I wrote that in the heat of one passionate September evening after eating dinner and playing driveway basketball by myself. My name is Patrick Herek. I am, by nature, a Homo sapien, and intelligent design has fit me into the beautifully tragic dichotomy of admiring Bon Jovi and Bach equally. I grew up on Brighton Lake Road and played an old upright piano that nearly ate me. My family sought refuge on the outskirts of Brighton's urban jungle in the haven of Pine Valley Estates. Here, I developed strength and drank Gatorade. My right foot and ten fingers have produced much music since. After years of legal problems, I have finally produced my first full-length album. Called Glory Avenue, it represents what music means to me: different frequencies of sound waves uniting over a predictable rhythm that resonate deep within a nameless gyrus of our collective cerebri. In case you're wondering about the album's lyrical content, it is laced, not with profanity, but with humanity. I have authorized myself to release one lyrical segment from the sixth track of the album, 'Round and Round': 'Lying here I wonder how exhausted a guy can be Before he spontaneously combusts' As you can see, there is no need to explain my intentions here. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Ask yourself, 'does music matter to me?' Whether you answered yes or no, please buy my CD.
