Raquel Williams is a favorite among music fans in South Florida. Originally born in Jamaica, her voice has taken her to four continents, thirteen countries and countless cities and venues throughout the world. Boasting a 4 octave range, and an eclectic style, Raquel effortlessly moves through a variety of genres, from Jazz, Motown and R & B to big band, swing, dance. Don\'t let her youthful appearance fool you, she is no newcomer. Her professional career began at the age of five when her mother Hope, a music teacher got her a paying \'gig\' singing Amazing Grace at a funeral. She took her first piano lesson shortly after. She fined tuned her craft studying privately for three years with Dr. Carolyn Stanford, former head of the Music Theater Department of University of Miami. She credits both her parents with encouraging her talent. \'My mother is an accomplished musician. She sings, plays piano and guitar and holds a degree in music. She taught me integrity and to respect my talent. My father was not a musician but he loved and appreciated music so much. Growing up with him, I got to see music through the eyes of someone that wanted a voice. It humbled me and made me thankful to be able to make a living doing what I love.\' Her talent, energy and passion have brought her to some impressive venues. She sung the national anthem for the inaugural Florida Panthers game and also performed the anthem for the Miami Heat. She has gone as far away as Hong Kong, headlining at the 5 star Grand Hyatt in Wanchai. London, Nassau, Seoul, and Los Angeles were also along her path. Raquel makes her home in Fort Lauderdale. Many remember her as the headliner at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 from 1997-1999 and again from 2001-2003 During football season she performs at every Miami Dolphin home game at Pro Player Stadium Clubhouse level. She splits her time performing in West Palm Beach, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa Bay where her high energy shows draw an energetic crowd. This singer, songwriter gets her inspiration from the people that come out year after year to see her perform. She is warm, approachable and talkative. No doubt, the best is yet to come for this up and coming performer. \'I work for those people sitting in the audience. I owe them a good performance.\'
