Reason for the Season on CD

Raymond Alexander was born in Bronx, New York. His father relocated the family to Virginia where he was immersed in Jazz music. His father played Saxophone in his college days while listening to Paul Desmond, Dave Brubeck, Wes Montgomery and a host of others. Raymond took piano lessons in elementary school. After a year, his piano teacher stopped the lessons upon learning that Raymond was picking up the songs by ear instead of by note. Playing the trumpet was the next step for Raymond in middle school. He eventually transitioned to tuba at Great Bridge High School. During his college years he was a DJ at Norfolk State University. Raymond was also a radio personality of the University's WNSB Jazz radio station. After college he started producing music for up and coming rap artists in Virginia. In 1992, Raymond joined Teach for America and moved to Baltimore to teach elementary school. He continued to DJ and create music for his own enjoyment in Maryland while attending University of Maryland Baltimore County for graduate school. Often he produced songs for his fourth grade students who wanted to try their hand at rap music. For practice, he remixed the acapella versions of popular songs and tested them out crowds at different parties. Raymond Alexander now resides in Cincinnati, OH. He has been making instrumental songs under the moniker "The Raymond Alexander Trio." This is a group that he formed using the standard piano, bass, and a drummer. However, these instruments all came from his M-Audio keyboard and his apple computer. Digital samples are fused together to form soothing Christmas melodies reminiscent of the jazz trios of days past. Raymond Alexander is planning a new release in early January that will sound more like Thievery Corporation, Praful, Jeff Lorber, and Herbie Hancock intertwined together.
