Description

Modern Sounds of Northern Towns on CD

Forming in late 2006, The Rhodes formed out of High School friends. After recording and producing their own EP \'Breaking and Entering,\' they moved to Queens and grew a following by busking in Washington Square during the day and playing electric shows by night. A few months and over 1000 EP sales later, the group returned to their native Hudson Valley, between Woodstock and New Paltz, and made a name for themselves as local Rock \'n\' Roll heroes. Since, they have appeared in multiple publishings (such as Roll Magazine and the Chronogram), performed live on television (Poughkeepsie Live), and won the Bearsville Theatre Garage Rumble competition, while still making routine weekends down to NYC in their shortbus \'Bernadette,\' playing such famed venues as Kenny\'s Castaways and The Bitter End. They have just recently completed their first full-length independent release, \'Modern Sounds of Nothern Towns\' at Flymax Studios with producer Jon Stern. Aside from the business, The Rhodes are considered unique for their complex vocal arrangements and infectious songwriting. A chameleon of a band, The Rhodes constantly evade proper classification, as their genre seems to shift between various styles, among them being Rock, Soul, Blues, Western, and occasionally a dab of Folk. However, the Rhodes have been known to publically consider themselves as \'the greatest all-white-under-30 Rhythm and Blues band alive.\'
