Fun Time on CD

A native of Trinidad & Tobago, Ricardo Greenaway comes from a family of musicians. Because of this influence, it was only natural that Ricardo would become a steel pan player, following in the footsteps of his mentor Venice 'Snags' Villaruel. Ricardo started his formal steel pan education at Malick Senior Comprehensive School in Trinidad and went on to become a member of the Solo Harmonites steel band at the age of sixteen. In 1983, he made his debut in the School Music Festival (Trinidad & Tobago) and won his first competition with Exodus, in the East Zone Panorama championship. In 1990, he followed up with his first national championship while playing with Amoco Renegades. Throughout his career Ricardo has won various awards for his talent and musicianship. He has performed at several competitions with many bands including, Solo Harmonites, Exodus, Cordettes, Amoco Renegades, T&T Police Ensemble, Brooklyn Pan Rebels, Silhouettes, Sonatas and Miami Island Boys. He also has performed at the Trinidad Hilton, Piarco International Airport, Naparima Bowl and several Trinidad & Tobago Panorama competitions. In addition, Ricardo has performed at the 2003 U.S. Open (Queens, NY) and the World Music Series (Bronx, NY). He also adds several solo performances to his credits and appearances on NBC's Third Watch and ABC's World News Tonight. Ricardo's goal is to continue to promote the rich cultural heritage of the steel pan through his music. He hopes it will be a source of inspiration for generations to come.
