Sunday Brunch at the Gentlemen's Club on CD

Intelli-pop. To a rising generation of music listeners intent on breaking down boundaries between musical genres, this one-word moniker is perhaps the closest approximation of Ringsend's sound. Their music fills the vast abyss left between the predictably trite and the overly-intellectualized. One might attempt a longer, more specific descriptor - jazz-inflected folk rock with some Celtic undertones, pop melodies with funk beats and hints of electronica and gogo- but why complicate the issue? Thoughtful tunes that catch the ear. Appreciably complex, dancibly interesting. The band met at Washington and Lee University (2 of 4 were music majors) and are now based in Richmond, VA. Keyboardist Joshua Harvey is often called upon as a studio and live sub; he's appeared on over a dozen albums, and has played live with Agents of Good Roots and once with Dave Matthews. Drummer Anthony Allen has appeared in Modern Drummer magazine as a contributing columnist.
