Rockers Vibration 1 / Various on CD

ROCKERS VIBRATION is a series of classic Reggae compilations from the Dread At The Controls stable which showcases some of the best Reggae artists in Jamaica of the late 70s/early 80s roots era in Jamaican Reggae music. Songs like 'Shy Girl' by the trio 'The Ovationz' the debut single from the group had already made it to the number one spot on the London Reggae charts in the early 80s and now appears in CD format preserving this valuable tune. Reggae artist Hopeton Lindo first came to Mikey Dread in the 70s and Mikey gave him the backing track to 'His Imperial Majesty' to write new lyrics to and so came his debut recording 'Black History.' Michael Israel a friend of Dread's also made his debut recording in the business by rewriting new lyrics to Mikey's famous 'Break Down The Walls' rhythm track and the result is 'Real Long Time' a cool , but solid track originally recorded by the Roots Radics and Mikey Dread in 1980 at Channel One studios. Mikey Dread also makes an appearance on 'Hot Cross Bun' on this compilation. Sugar Minott, a long time brethren of Mikey also makes a rare appearance on this compilation with 'In this time' recorded at the great King Tubby's studio in Waterhouse, Kingston, Jamaica. It was Mikey Dread who wrote the classic 'His Imperial Majesty' in the 70s while working on the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation Radio station but decided to have Rod Taylor sing the song while he produced the single for his label, 'Dread At The Controls' which people in the UK refer to as D.A.T.C- the acronym for Dread At the Controls. The song was number one for months and is still one of the most sought after reggae tracks around. Both Earl 16 and Sunshine became close friends of Mikey Dread during this time and appear on this compilation performing their debut songs for the DATC label, 'Mr. DJ' and 'Taking the World' respectively. ROCKERS VIBRATION is a rare compilation worth acquiring. It appeared on colored vinyl in the 80s and is now available again in CD format. All tracks were recorded by the Roots Radics Band except 'Freezing' an instrumental version of Mikey's 'Jah Jah Love' and 'His Imperial Majesty' which features Santa Davis on drums. This project was recorded using the top recording studios in Jamaica- King Tubby's, Channel one and Aquarius and features the mixing genius of Mervyn Williams, Bunny Tom Tom and Scientist in the glory days of their careers.
