Huddled Masses on CD

A rare collection of Ireland's 14 golden greats arranged and performed superbly by Cape Breton's top musicians including Barra MacNeils and Slainte Mhath and beautifully sung by Rod Senior. This CD is definitely a keeper for any Celtic music lover. Perfect for your St. Patrick's Day party celebration. The CD title The Huddled Masses derives from Emma Lazurus' poem engraved on the Statue of Liberty to honor the millions of immigrants who braved the perilous transatlantic crossing from the old world to the new world to be free. Their old music traveled with them and this outstanding album captures Ireland's very best traditional songs. Rod Senior early musical career was influenced by John Mayall and Eric Clapton. With his treasured Rickenbacker 345 acquired at Woodstock '69, Rod formed Graphite, a solid blues cover band that steadily grew in stature and shared the stage with giants such as Pink Floyd, The Who, Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull. Later Rod moved to Maritime Canada and became entranced by it's thriving Celtic music scene. Rod has a unique vocal and guitar style and performs an enviable repertoire of Irish songs and ballads at a wide variety of pubs and concert venues. A message from Rod ..... 'For years I just knew that I had to make this album that captures Ireland's traditional songs performed in a Maritime style. So I headed for the accredited Lakewind Studios, assembled the most brilliant musical talent that Cape Breton has to offer and embarked on this two year project. The best songs are usually the ones that continue to haunt you. This album is a selection of the golden greats from Ireland that I have played and sung for years yet never tired of. I sincerely hope that this CD leaves you feeling the same way'
