In this 1958 western from director Anthony Mann (WINCHESTER '73), middle-aged former outlaw Link Jones on his way to hire a schoolteacher when he is confronted by train robbers and forced to form an uneasy alliance his old gang in order save the lives of an innocent dancehall girl and a shady gambler. Gary Cooper (HIGH NOON) and Lee J. Cobb (12 ANGRY MEN) star in MAN OF THE WEST, a romantic yet thoughtfully austere action drama that captures the minimalist heart at the center of the western genre.
