In the small, depressed town of San Lovisa, Texas, two cops are partnered for the first time--recently divorced, by-the-book Francis (Bill Sage) and tough, volatile Morning (Hal Hartley regular Bill Sage). The two work their small time beat of domestic disputes, junkies, and lowlifes, getting to know the other's personality quirks. Eventually, though they find themselves in a difficult situation, where their very different approaches could mean the difference between life and death. This interesting variation on the cop film, which features original songs from Soul Coughing's Mike Doughty, gained positive notices on the 2003 festival circuit.
