When Poets Dreamed on CD

This debut album contains a mixture of romantic classical pieces and a selection of Alex's own compositions which add a dramatic dimension to the passion and intensity of the romantic and lyrical selections from Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Bach and Chopin. For example, Sirocco, Desert Dream, Marrakech and Naufrage, the four movements of Suite Arabesque (written for piano and clarinet by Alex in 2005 when he was 12 years old) evoke in the listener the tempestuous beauty of a North African desert storm, with it's lows and highs ranging from a warm gentle caressing breeze blowing across the Mediterranean through to a frenzied Saharan whirlwind. Dinner at Table 7 (a composition for solo piano written by Alex in 2006 when he was 13 years old) depicts the turbulence of young love and jealousy. It evokes the story of a young couple dining out in a restaurant down town. The initial atmosphere is relaxed and quiet but is soon interrupted by the entrance of folk dancers. The young girl gestures to her boyfriend to get up and dance with her. He refuses to join in so she gets up and dances on her own. It is not long before another young man notices her dancing and, attracted by her beauty, joins in with her. The young girl's boyfriend is furious when he notices what is going on and a fight starts between the two men. "Winner of a multiplicity of awards for his performance ability in both classical and jazz genres, Raineri in concert is always a study in passion and emotion." Drum (Sydney) May 2006 "Winning multiple live awards for his ability in classical and jazz genres, his performances are always recognised for their passion and emotion." Street Beat (Sydney), May 2006 "Alex Raineri plays with a mature musical insight and an accomplished pianistic technique to match.." Max Olding AM (Brisbane), July 2006.
