Comfort & Joy: An Acoustic Christmas on CD

To combine and paraphrase advice from the movie Ishtar (a classic, see it if you're a songwriter, I think you'll appreciate it!) and CD Baby: 'Sing songs people know. That way if you bomb, they'll still have something to applaud...' Bearing that in mind, I have found that among my listeners there are two very distinct camps: those who really like my songs but who encourage me to get them 'out there' so the best singers can sing them for me, and those who can take or leave my songs, but they really like my voice and want to hear me sing songs they know. And wandering back and forth between those two camps but never quite joining either are the folks who listen to what I put out and encourage me to write, sing and record as much as possible. This new CD is a gift to those who want to hear me sing what they know so they can sing along, too. 'Comfort and Joy: An Acoustic Christmas' is a collection of 10 traditional Christmas songs, done with my Gibson guitar and me. From the CD: 'Like most people, I've always loved Christmas carols. The snag is that I have a tendency to get choked up when it's time to sing them. So they're rarely added to my setlist when the holidays roll around every year. The magic of recording is that you have more than one try to get it right! What I've tried to do here is capture what it would be like if I were sitting in your living room with you and we were singing these together. The arrangements are simple, the songs are quiet - suitable to put your baby to sleep with even! These are all traditional songs that are about the true meaning of Christmas. No Santa, so sleigh bells...I hope my versions of these familiar old tunes bring you the comfort and joy they've brought me throughout my life.' As always, thanks for listening. Your support is appreciated more than I can possibly express. All the best to you and yours, Amelia.
