Revolutionary Roots on CD

Ashes of Babylon is a roots reggae band based in the southwest Louisiana city of Lake Charles. Formed in August 2006, AoB has become South Louisiana's premier reggae band. Playing shows from Baton Rouge to Austin, TX, they have gained notoriety as having a live show that never fails to impress. Only an AoB live show demonstrates how truly dynamic this band is. Three-part vocal harmonies float over a solid rhythm section that is peppered with 3-to-4 part horn riffs to make a gumbo of sound that is unmistakable - & that's without mentioning Corey Saucier's lead vocals. From sweet reggae ballads to full-on dance hall toasting, "Ras Rell" and his powerful voice command the listener's attention and don't let go until the last resounding note. Ashes of Babylon has played a wide variety of shows ranging from local gigs in downtown Lake Charles with 300+ attending to smaller private functions and multiple charity events. If one show sticks out, it's Party by The Pool; a weekly event during the summer at L'Auberge Du Lac Casino in Lake Charles. LDL Casino hosts a different performer every week for the length of the summer. Other artists for 2008 included: Gin Blossoms, Better Than Ezra, Candlebox, Cowboy Mouth. Attendance for the June 12 AoB show was 1600+. The debut album, "Revolutionary Roots" was engineered by AoB bassman Eric Daigle and recorded at Club Center, Ashes of Babylon's studio and "home base". The album was mixed by David Percefull of Yellow Dog Studios in Austin, TX (3 Days Grace; Bowling For Soup) and mastered by Derek Taylor of Milo Studios in Dallas, TX (Bush: live; Blue October: History For Sale). The title of the album, "Revolutionary Roots," reflects Ashes of Babylon's interpretation of the classic Roots Reggae genre to make a sound that is their own.
