Betawave on CD

Betawave Bio I started exploring music at a young age. I began on the piano, but that shifted into percussion soon after. Not being content with the limited expression of melody that drums offered, I decided to learn how to play guitar. Things started slowly as I was learning, but that didn't stop me and some friends from jamming around in my basement for a few years. I played guitar in jazz band almost all through High School, and even had a 3 piece band which I sang and played for. During this same time I started to get into industrial acts like; Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, and Frontline Assembly. I was beginning to feel and appreciate the power of electronics and synthesizers in music. Soon after graduation, my bassist disappeared and my desire to create rock music had grown stagnant. This is when I began to discover electronica. My interests grew and were nurtured by the English label Warp Records. Artists like Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, and Autechre led me full force into a love of electronica. I got my first sequencer (the Yamaha RM1X) in 1999, and haven't put it down since. As with guitar it was slow going at first, but my deisre to create electronic music was strong, and giving up was not an option. Being in a band, I had realized the unreliability of others, and that the only way to truly be as serious about music as I wanted would require me to do it alone. So I waded through badly written manuals and steep learning curves and began making electronic music. After I got comfortable with the RM1X, I began composing short fragments of songs and more ambient type sound-scapes. It wasn't until I got the RS7000 a few years later that I was able to start to get serious about creating electronica. My debut album was written during the late summer of 2005. I had scrapped all my previous work to this point just to get a fresh jumping off point. Having a clean slate was essential in keeping me motivated. This album is a huge milestone for me personally. Much hard work and thought has gone into every detail of my songs. I plan on creating and releasing much more material in the near future.
