Cloudy Day on CD

Blondesong's debut album "Cloudy Day" portrays a wide array of emotions from blissful to melancholy moods. The somewhat manic poetry of the music and lyrics invokes feelings both of happiness and sometimes sorrow within each song. Subjects of most songs are based on love, or "Broken Love," which the artist explains, 'It's a sad song about a man cheating on his girlfriend with her friend, for example.' Some tell a story or describe an emotion often shared by others, as well. There are also several other sad songs on 'Cloudy Day' including the acoustic 'I Wish' and especially 'Something More.' which sounds like it was meant for a very sad theatrical performance in a musical. Blondesong adds, 'I think the best song on this album is 'Stay With Me' - a heart-felt,sweet, and romantic love song I wrote for my wonderful husband.. Also, 'Let's Go !' which is of special interest because -(although I doubt anyone would realize it unless I tell them) -it is a very happy song written for my beloved dogs from their perspective! And 'Good-Bye' is a popular, heavier and lively rock song that tells a story of a girl breaking up with her boyfriend.' Natalie Mims Friese a.k.a. Blondesong, has a very rich and clear, unique voice and uses her own vocal harmony for a deeper effect. Variety in the musical composition ranges from soft acoustic guitars, piano and strings sounds to upbeat, fun and lively, slightly heavier rock guitars and drums and are great to sing along to. Generally, the style is considered to be Pop or Light Rock with an alternative feel, although the title track "Cloudy Day" has a country or bayou beat in it's rhythm. Her mix of styles is comparable to artists such as Eva Cassidy, Sixpence None The Richer, Ingrid Michaelson, The Cranberries, Jewel, Kelly Clarkson, The Go-Go's or Cass Elliot. Natalie has loved singing since she was a child with her family, who are also musically inclined. She began singing publicly in college after entering a singing contest on campus, which led to occasional performances at local clubs in the area. The experience was a good foundation to pursue further success in music. Since that time, she has given live performances many times for cultural and community functions in Texas including the Ladies Club and Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Gala scholarship events, and Blondesong continues to sing for numerous venues in her local area. She has performed multiple times for "Johnnie High's Country Music Revue" and plans to again soon - usually during the summer months. In addition, she has appeared on the "Joyful Praise" television show for 5 episodes which still air at present. One of her favorite activities was singing for the Fort Worth Cats Minor League baseball team in their variety show called the "Feline Follies," in which she was responsible for two solo acts including song and dance. They have decided to make the show an annual event for which she will return. She is most happy to submit her first CD of original musical composition, lyrics and singing voice. The inspiration came from an idea to set her many works of poetry she has written throughout the years to music and thereby create a medium for which people of every generation can enjoy. She hopes others will find beauty, humor and empathy within each song. She has also been a working artist for several years since graduating from college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and creates artwork using mediums including photography, drawing and painting. The artist also studied dance and acting from a young age, and was an extra in the movie "Pure Country" starring George Strait. Above all, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her two dogs. She loves creative writing, nature, traveling and horror movies and whole-heartedly believes in the importance of a sense of humor. She plans to continue to pursue a career path in art and music for years to come.
