Christma-Classics on CD

If you like Christmas carols and Classical music, or either one, you will enjoy this album. I couldn't decide whether I liked Classical or Christmas music more, so I threw them together and stirred them up. The results run the gamut from the soft and mellow to the borderline insane. There is no way to describe a Christma-Classic, you must try one. I suggest 'Can Can Wenceslaus.' In a way it symbolizes the spirit of the CD. It combines Can-Can music of Offenbach with the song 'Good King Wenceslaus' , throwing in a quote from Schumann's 'Happy Farmer' just for the heck of it. If your taste goes more to High Classical, then by all means try 'Mozart We Have Heard on High, based on Mozart Sonata in C and 'Angels We Have Heard On High.' Also very nice is 'Green Fur,' the scary title that belies a rather pretty combination of Greensleeves (What Child Is This) with Beethoven's 'Fur Elise.' In 'God Rest Ye Merry, Mendelssohn,' the E minor Scherzo of Mendelssohn is combined with 'God Rest Ye Merry, Gentleman.' For those looking for more mellow moments, 'Away In A Major', which combines Chopin's A Major Prelude with 'Away In A Manger' might be the ticket, or try 'Nocturne On A Midnight Clear,' a combination of a Chopin Nocturne with 'It Came Upon A Midnight Clear. Each one also contains a free Variation, and they explore a range of technique that can only be classified as Virtuoso.. Which is better, Christmas Carols? Classical Music? I love them both, and this is a fun way to show it! I ihope that it brings as much fun to you, the listener, as it did to me the writer of these 'Christma-Classics, recorded at my home studio in Cincinnati. MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
