Cougars Kill Cobras on CD

Whatever brought these three guys together in the south of Maine one will never know, perhaps the electro magnetic frequencies or the wind currents sweeping through the Atlantic Ocean. After involvement in many an indie band in NY and a few stints in Los Angeles, Gerald Von Stoddard found himself drawing unicorns on the coast of Maine and was soon to find himself in the trajectory of one Noah Defillipis formerly of 50 Million out of San Francisco. What seemed an attempt to create some sense from the rapid thought patterns these two shared became an overgrown monster too big for it's cage. They both felt they had bitten into something and oh how sweet the fruit. Local drummer and balladeer, Derek Gierhan came barreling into town on the tails of a carnival and offered to pound the skins for these two madmen and to see what would happen if put into a room with no windows, loud guitars, thundering bass lines and blood curdling drum beats. There is a hint of Joy Division's ghost hiding in certain corners of the music but swiftly carried on the shoulders of early 90's pioneers in the indie rock scene, especially those emanating from the DC area like Nation of Ulysses and Fugazi. One local musician aptly described there music as ' Queens of the Dischord'. Yet there's still something you can't put your finger on with Cougars Kill Cobras, perhaps it's those strange magnetic fields playing with your mind or the frequencies these three seem to ride on that hits you so quick you don't know what happened but you know you want more.
