Poetic Variations on CD

Welcome to all the open minded listeners to Poetic Variations. Hip Hop is the voice that speaks with the breath of past revolutionaries. I choose to put messages in my music dealing with racism, eating disorders, the environment, ballet and my feelings on gangsta rap. Artists aren't responsible for the way the world flows but we are responsible for shaping it. Cum Laude is latin for with honors and Anomaly means something that can't be explained. My real name is Jhe Russell and I am a professional ballet dancer who has danced in Toronto, Harlem NY, Bucharest Romania and North Carolina. I performed at many open-mics in the states, Canada and England. I opened for fellow CD BABY artist More Or Les at the GYPSY CO-OP in Toronto . I had songs played on 88.1 in Toronto and have free-styled on the Circle Research Show. I have performed with Eugene Draw at The Opera House in Toronto, and The Harbor-front Music Festival in 2000. I also choreographed a piece entitled FREESTYLE using my rapping skills in a workshop with the National Ballet of Canada in 2001. In doing this, I have taken another step closer to bridging the gap between two forms of art that seem so distant, and as The National Post in Toronto put it, "...a welcome change". Please feel free to search for Cum Laude the Anomaly on My Space music to view a music video, under my photo, feauring me dancing ballet and rapping my song Hip Hop For The Thinker.
