My Old Pick-Up Truck on CD

Ed's family roots are firmly grounded in Oklahoma and Texas influences. Early memories include singing harmony with his older brother on a variety of songs such as Old Rugged Cross, Moonlight Bay and White Sport Coat. At 16 Ed Parrish formed a trio, "The Venturans," which performed publicly and sang contemporary songs, a mix of other Rhythm and Blues, Country and Pop. They performed at various events including Regional Youth Rallies. At one such event, Ed's ten year old cousin, Michael Allsup from Modesto, was in the audience. Michael often says, "I was so impressed and inspired watching and hearing Eddie singing on stage that I started taking guitar lessons." By the time Michael was 18 he was lead guitar player in the rock band Three Dog Night. As most know, with Michael as an original member, Three Dog Night was #1 in the world with such hit songs as Joy To The World. This legendary band is still popular, maintaining a busy schedule, performing throughout the world. Michael is still lead guitar player for Three Dog Night and is quick to retell the story of his motivation by Cousin Eddie on that California stage many years ago. While attending Pepperdine University, Ed co-founded a folk-singing group called "The Landsmen" The group quickly became popular with both students and faculty. The folk singing quartet was so well-liked and representative of Pepperdine students that they were often asked to travel with the President or other University faculty to perform at recruiting or fundraising events throughout the West Coast and other locations. Until graduation, the group was signed with a professional management company and performed at such famous Southern California clubs as The Troubadour in Beverly Hills, The Ice House in Pasadena, The Insomniac in Hermosa Beach as well as other such clubs throughout California. Ed Parrish is an accomplished songwriter with Nashville's HTi Music and a recording artist with Adonda Records. Ed has recorded two CD's, "My Old Pick-Up Truck" (produced by Michael Allsup) and "City Slicker." Ed is currently working on a Nashville-recorded third CD, produced by Harrison Tyner and 8-time Grammy winner Tom Pick. Jack Loeb wrote, "Just received my copy of Ed Parrish's CD 'My Old Pick-Up Truck' and I can't stop listening to it! Ed's original song 'I've Got Fire' is the most listenable song I've heard in years. The CD is a good mix of emotions for the audience. 'Daddies and Their Daughters' is dead-on about the special relationship that dads share with their daughters. Ed's lyrics are always meaningful. His voice is reminiscent of Eddy Arnold's, with the same easy-listening quality. I highly recommend buying this CD." Michael Allsup wrote, "Although we are cousins (my Dad and Ed's Mother are brother and sister) and we played together growing up as kids, it wasn't until the last 15 years as adults that we have grown almost as close together as brothers. Certainly, it is our friendship and love for each other that binds us, but just as strong is our mutual love of music. Over the last few years, we have had many family reunions and special gatherings which we all treasure. Soon after the food thing is over, we always get out the guitars and play and sing up every song we can think of. We laugh and make others laugh, too. Everyone joins in. We love it. We have to plan the timing of these family gigs carefully, considering the concert schedule of Three Dog Night, but in most situations they have seemed to work out just fine. Ed has done 2 CD's... both well worth listening to. The first is titled 'My Old Pick Up Truck' ... which I'm proud to say that I produced for him. It has some of my guitar work and some of his. His lead vocals and harmonies are very nice. Each song is creative, different and has it's own message. In short, I like it. Even though it was a couple years ago, I still listen to it in my car and smile. Along with getting to do some harmony on some of the songs, I had the fun of recording his songs in my studio. If you haven't heard this CD, you should. This is Ed's CD. It consists of 6 original songs that are Ed's version of Suburban Country Folk music. And what would that be, you ask? HIS OWN THING with me trying to put a label on it. You'll find his voice noticeably pure and smooth. For those of you yearning for a taste of the early folk/country style, you need look no further. New, original compositions, some of which contain his tongue in cheek sense of humor." Living in Central California with his wife Barbara and family, Ed continues to write, record, and regularly perform at various California events, singing old favorites as well as his own original songs.
