Gary also enjoys the contemporary stylings and the likes of Larry Carlton, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Albert King, Larry Coryell, Earl Klugh, Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter, Jimmy Bruno, Norman Brown, Barney Kessel, and Albert Lee. Throughout the years Gary has had the privilege of playing Country and Gospel music in various venues, although most of Gary's own original songs are based around Contemporary Jazz and Blues melodies and harmonies. Gary Larson's musical journey began in the 1960's with studying guitar, piano, flute, clarinet, and composition with instructors such as; Ted Greene, Chips Hoover, Ralph Brady, John Gross SR and JR, Tom Phillips, Claude Lakey, and others. During the mid 60's and early 70's, Gary actively played cover tunes and standards in various venues. The mid to late 70's were a little more introspective with Gary's time spent writing, composing, and studying, while he and his wife were starting their family. Entering into the 80's a very predominant force in Gary's musical career emerged in Gospel music, where he incorporated his Jazz influences. Gary had the privilege of accompanying many fine artists, along with leading multiple worship teams, which further developed his style, versatilities, and embellished his solo guitar playing as well. During this time Gary toured and recorded with a contemporary Country Gospel group in California. The 90's led Gary into a season of producing, directing, composing and performing musical scores for independent and commercial audio and video projects, as well as regularly leading church worship teams. Today, Gary Larson's musical abilities continue to reach church worship services, seminars, wedding ceremonies, commercial audio and video projects, studio musician work, musical instruction, community events, radio airplay, and private venues. Gary Larson resides on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii with his wife and family. Please visit: GaryLarsonMusic.com.
