Songs Without Words/ Chansons Sans Paroles on CD

Songs Without Words Attracted equally by music and science since his youth, Marc-André Pépin offers us the best of his music, with an arrangement of twelve "Songs without words", original compositions for piano that he has just recorded on CD. An album of beautiful technical and musical quality, most often times ballads. Very melodic, though often quite studied, his compositions evoke images, stories, feelings, in a form close to song, with verses and ritornellos. Classic in nature, his tunes make for an easy listening experience and create an ambiance that is warming and welcoming, that invites us to relaxation, to meditation and to well-being. Biography Marc-André Pépin was born in Beauce, Quebec, Canada. He began playing piano at the age of 8 and has been composing ever since. He has one foot firmly planted in the world of music and the other in science. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Laval University in Quebec City, while at the same time studying. He also received a Bachelor's degree in music from Université de Montréal. In spite of a professional life geared towards science and engineering, Marc-André's passion for playing, composing, teaching, and performing music has never abated. In 2008, he released "Songs Without Words", his first CD, a collection of twelve original compositions. The album was played on radio stations across Canada and the world. The CD's success landed him his first recital in 2009 at Quebec's Centre d'Art La Chapelle which was dedicated entirely to his music. He primarily gives private recitals or performs at retirement homes. His influences stem mainly from classical music and range from Bach to Schoenberg, with a particular fondness for Bach, Beethoven and Bruckner. He also loves movie scores: Ennio Morricone, Jerry Goldsmith and Philippe Sarde. At the end of 2010, two years after recording his first CD, pianist Marc-André Pépin returns with a second solo album called "Rendez-vous". This album is also distributed through CDbaby.
