Drawing from blues, gospel, jazz, and classical influences, pianist Ran Blake delivers an innovative and unparalleled performance, while Clifford Jordan, at the peak of his artistry, brings his seasoned mastery to the recording. Recorded in 1989 at Mapleshade Studios, this tension-filled session includes a reimagined version of Billy Strayhorn's classic "Something To Live For" (M1), Blake's original composition "Vanguard" (M6) as a duo performance, and the trio piece "Doug's Prelude" (M9) featuring trombonist Julian Priester.
