Parting Shots & Such on CD

Reese Neal is a singer-songwriter out of Northwest Arkansas. He has performed in various coffee-shops, bars, and other venues across Arkansas over the past few years. His songs are lyrically focused and melodic, delivered through strong vocals and acoustic guitar-driven arrangements. (style: acoustic, singer-songwriter, folk/rock-pop, roots, Americana). In 2001, Neal recorded his first independent music release, Parting Shots & Such, an album with a variety of themes, ranging from misguided love to hilarious songs of insightful wisdom about the world. In May 2005, he released his second album, thisclose. With this sophomore effort, Reese has clearly shown his growth as an artist. Having now seen him perform numerous times, I can only comment about how he has matured both as a songwriter and a performer. While he continues to choose cover songs that fit him well and enlighten his audience, ranging anywhere from the obscure Willis Alan Ramsey to the Rolling Stones to Ryan Adams, he also takes the time to hone his skill and write his own material. Using his wit and experiences to craft songs worthy of attention and praise, he is, in my opinion, rapidly becoming one of the Mid-South's most versatile and noteworthy performers. - Robb McCormick of some guy named robb.
