Silky Black on CD

Rob Carr rmg_carr@hotmail.com Rob Carr's voice is what sets him apart from other singer/songwriters. He bathes deceptively simple arrangements with his colorful tenor to create intimate and emotional songs that crackle like a mid-summer campfire. Rob Carr is a singer/songwriter who lives in Shoreline Washington with his wife and four children. He graduated from The Evergreen State College in 1993. His song 'You Could Probably Say' highlighted the '93 Evergreen Album Project and opened the door for several popular live performances on the college's radio station, KAOS fm. His big break came four years later when East Coast filmmaker Dan Brazda heard his demo. Rob's music struck a chord with Brazda and he instantly signed Carr to write and record four songs for his 1997 full-length movie 'Chapter Perfect' starring Caprice Benedetti and Wilfred Brimley. From 1995 to 2000 Rob played extensively on the Seattle coffee house circuit, gaining a reputation for intensely intimate performances. During this time he also performed with his comedy rock band Vitamin V, earning a minor cult following on the independent cable T.V. series, 'Swine Before Pearls.' He has released two full-length records and one single. His 1996 self-titled debut combined the intimacy of his solo act with the raucous, satirical fun of Vitamin V and was a popular seller at his gigs. His second release, 'White Trash Angels' (2003) catapulted him into the world of home recording and highlighted his various writing styles. Rob's versatility is showcased on this limited edition as he moves from Punk, to Pop, to Bedroom Folk (all this without pressing 'shuffle.'). The single 'Silky Black' became available in Spring 2005 in preparation for the release of his next full-length CD, due in the fall of this year. Rob is also recording with his new comedy punk/rawk band 'THE LAKE CITY ASTROS' and is finishing a collection of original children's songs. Recently, Rob guest sang on Richard Peterson's newest musical effort. So far Richard (star of the award winning documentary 'Big City Dick') has asked Carr to sing on two of his original compositions, currently in production at Seattle's Avast Recording Studio (formerly Ironwood Studios).
