Winter of Our Discotheque on CD

"The Winter of Our Discotheque" is an EP of humorous and introspective songs featuring many talented members of the Kingston music scene. Rueben Degroot is a Kingston singer/songwriter/performer who originally hails from the west coast. Rueben came to Kingston following stints in California, Vancouver and Edmonton. This self-produced and recorded CD is Rueben's second Ep and his fifth official release; some with other bands. In 1999 Rueben released his self titled debut EP in Edmonton. It received good reviews and spent some time on the indie charts there. His second release was as a member of Vancouver alt-country band: The Seams. The Seams featured the talents of Black Hen recording artists Cameron Latimer and Steve Dawson as well as Aaron Grant, Adam Dobres, Bill Hicks and others. "Discotheque" blends folk and country aspects of Rueben's various group projects. The co-writes on the album are proof of a varied cross-genre interest in his songwriting. "Pray Darling Pray" was co-written with Open Road record's breakout success story, Ridley Bent, and Cassiopeia was written with Dave Moran of the Vancouver rock band "The British Columbians". Rueben is currently recording his next full length album with Luther Wright.
